Cecilia Meireles was a name that was imposed without any effort on the recognition of his talent and admiration of the country. She died in November 1964. She was a poet of Brazil and dear friend of Carlos Lacerda. It was no wonder, then, that the governor wanted to honor her in some way. The opportunity came when, finally, the property has gained a musical identity and had to give it a name. Lacerda didn´t have to think too much. The room name was Cecilia Meireles Concert Hall.

In Lapa, the city center, the room became, over the years, an important space of training and dissemination of concert music in Rio de Janeiro.
