The newest business venture of the Ráscal company, which is successful in São Paulo, has already found an address in Rio. In its short menu, Cortés brings cuts of meat from Argentina, Uruguay and North America, as well as dishes containing fish, octopus and shrimp. The restaurant’s main highlight is the “parrilla” (the grill used for barbecuing), but the unconventional cuts draw attention, such as the “Vacio do Dianteiro”, a cut that includes the flank and other near cuts (R$ 59) that is very popular in Argentina. The Chorizo beef (R$ 64) is also a great options. For those who prefer seafood, a dish that stands out is the shrimp with petite watercress and smashed potato (R$ 97).

The establishment’s name is a play on the Portuguese words “cortes” (to indicate cuts of meat) and “cortês” (courteous). Its main feature is the fact that the team takes part in the meat’s production chain from beginning to end to ensure the quality of what is served to the customers. The environment, designed by architect Fábio Bruschini, is furnished with lots of leather, wood and iron, which gives it a more casual atmosphere that sets it apart from the more traditional meat houses.
