The Cathedral was one of the first churches of this religion in the country, and it was founded in 1862. It was listed by the artistic heritage of Rio de Janeiro, and the building has neo-gothic lines and a modern artistic lighting; at night its external grayish brown walls become a multicolored surface. The internal decoration has stained glass windows executed by Maria Celina Simon in 1947, in addition to benches and an altar manufactured in noble wood.
