Ipanema sands mark the history of Bossa Nova. Ipanema is among the favorite beaches of Rio de Janeiro for the charming and relaxation, world-renowned for the song “The Girl from Ipanema” by Tom Jobim and Vinicius de Moraes. The beach, 2 km long, Arpoador to Jardim de Alá, is a meeting point for young locals and delighted tourists, especially near the post 9. The beach is used for the practice of various sports, as well as being stage shows outdoors. Among the favorite activities include surfing, racquetball, volleyball, soccer, and footvolley. Locals and tourists usually sit on the sand, in the evening, to chat and applaud the magnificent sunset. On Sundays, the edge of the tracks is impossible for vehicles up to 6PM and released for leisure of Rio. Take your bike or your skateboard!
