The Church takes us back to the XVIII century, and it was built between the years of 1700 and 1725. In the middle of the 19th century the facade was renovated, maintaining the Portico and the preserved towers. The restoration project signed by architect Lúcio Costa, used trusses and wooden balustrades in the tribunes of the main chapel, giving it an aura of dignity. The church houses the Black Museum with its own collection and library.
