In February, Rio has got one more cultural complex. Called A Maison, the place has opened at Casa Europa, the headquarters of the French Consulate, and comprises the Maison de France Theater, Cine Maison, a multimedia library, a café with French products, and a champagne bar of the Perrier-Jouet brand on the porch. The place has also a program of musical events, debates about movies, degustation of beverages, seminars about several themes etc. The place’s proposition is to democratize the access to French culture and contribute to the revitalization of downtown Rio.

With a collection of over 20 thousand publications, among hard and digital copies, about varied themes like French literature, gastronomy, art,
children’s literature, and educational books, as well as newspapers and magazines, the collection also pleases the lovers of French films, with classics like Les Misérables, and animations like the adventures of Asterix and Obelix. The room also offers reading tables, lounges with puffs and sofas, and rooms for meetings and lectures with projection equipment, sound equipment, and translators. Anyone can register to access the content, it’s free. When you get hungry, a menu signed by the French chef David Jobert, from the L’Atelier du Cuisinier restaurant brings the flavors of France to the place.
