Built and given to the Venerável Ordem Terceira de São Francisco da Penitência order, in 1704; it was rebuilt in 1740 after the place was destroyed on a fire caused by the French invasion lead by Jean François
Duclerc. Considered one of the main works of Jesuitical Baroque style, the church was close for 10 years due to conservation problems and was reopened for visitation in 2014.
