The Bip Bip is unique, good and free music, pleasant atmosphere and the absolute informality in service. There is nothing like it in town.

The Bip Bip has its own peculiarities, such as unexpected and informal presence of music stars. But informality also applies to service. The bar has no waiters. It is a kind of self-service pub. Customers go to the fridge, take your drink, pass by Alfredo – always sitting next to the table of musicians – say the name and what they are taking. Plain and simple. In the end, just go again for Alfredo and pay the bill. This is the basic rule to be a frequent client of the most informal and traditional pub at the same time, in the city. Another rule of the bar is never clap after a song. “Instead, we click the softly fingers,” says Licinio Rogério engineer, who for 18 years attends home.

Bip Bip has a rich musical program which highlights three of the most important genres of Brazilian music: on Mondays and Tuesdays is roda de choro, considered the first typically Brazilian urban music, which emerged in Rio de Janeiro the years 1880. ‘Carionhoso’, Pixinguinha, and ‘Brasileirinho’, Waldir Azevedo, are some of the songs of the genre.
