A restaurant specialized in sushi, sashimi and yakitori that values authentic Japanese cuisine. The establishment has tables as well as a wide bar counter made of stone and wood from a single tree. The counter encourages contact with the chefs and allows the customers to watch the dishes being prepared. The Sake bar by the entrance is a highlight of the place. Shiso’s chef is Miriam Moriyama, who’s under the direction of the executive chef of Grand Hyatt Rio de Janeiro, the French Yvan Didelot. The restaurant was designed by Arthur Casas, and is decorated with photographs shot by Tuca Reinés in a tribute to Japanese movie director, Yasujiro Ozu. Open exclusively for dinner, Shiso offers a selection of traditionally Japanese appetizers and dishes. A highlight of the menu are the Yakitoris, selections of skewers with fresh ingredients that are seasoned and prepared with coal, such as the Shiitake tori – shiitake mushroom stuffed with chicken – and the Yakitori Wagyu – a Japanese premium cut of meat.
