Considered to be one of the most traditional establishments in the city, Aurora offers varied Portuguese delicacies since it opened in 1898. From the 118 years of existence, the last one was dedicated to an intense renovation, which gave the house a new look. Located in Humaitá, it reopened
this January totally transformed, and with a long menu that has nearly one hundred tidbits to please people of all tastes. Aurora is run by chef
Beatriz Capão, and offers dishes of the Portuguese-Brazilian cuisine that seem to come straight out of a Portuguese grandma kitchen.

We highlight the dishes that have been a steady feature on the menu for years, like the tongue in madeira gravy, the picadinho Aurora, beef cubes in gravy served with rice, fried eggs, sautéed potatoes, farofa, and breaded banana, the medalion a la piamontese served with Portuguese potatoes, and the Aurora cod fish, with rice, fried potatoes, olives, onion, and tomatoes with olive oil, all of them in beautifully large servings.
