Other programming which get Rio’s face is the traditional fair at General Glicério square, in Laranjeiras. Every Saturdays, in the morning, the South neighborhood transforms itself as a typical carioca suburb. The fair, with stalls of vegetables and flowers of several kinds, happen on the street in front of the square. Other stalls also sell coconut water, caipirinhas and pastries with savory fillings. A sympathetic fair of handicraft, where is possible to find decoration objects and clothes also happens there during all day long.
And the music also has presence on the fair. The Pixin Bodega group is dedicated to bring a stuffed repertoire of choro” – typical kind of song -, for the morning and afternoons of Saturdays on the square. A good tip is to enjoy to know the Corcovado at the same day of the fair. It’s common to see tourists and cariocas walking over the place. Leaving Laranjeiras and turn to the right on General Glicério. The walk lasts 10 minutes and it’s very nice. There’s no mistake!
